Until the arrival of interior blinds curtains were the main application for dressing windows.

Made from a multitude of fabrics the can be hung from either poles or tracks, operated manually by hand, cord or by electric motor. They can be finished with various headings and designed to be functional or non functional as a finish to frame a window.

Curtains can add warmth to a room and help retain heat. They can aid privacy particularly in bedrooms and are practical in almost all situations.

Net Curtains or voiles made in lighter weight fabrics allow for some natural light to come into a room but still offer some privacy along with heat and sun protection.

A Valance or Pelmet can be made to cover the top of a curtain and add a more decretive look. They can be made as pieces of shaped fabric hung on tracks or fitted to wood boards and can be used to frame the top of the window.
